Ok, so it’s taking a bit longer than we anticipated to complete the game, but what else is new?

Here’s a little trailer video that I put together:

I also added a webpage with screenshots of Tasty Planet: Back for Seconds to the Dingo Games website.

  • Iramatak said,

Any word on a release date?

  • James said,

“When it’s done.” Seriously though, we’re trying for the end the month.

  • mrspockfan said,

Take your time and do it right, but the end of the month sounds good. :)

    Hey James,

    Saw the preview on Gamezebo

  • Iramatak said,

How much will this cost? 20 bucks?

  • James said,

    Yes, I think so.

  • Iramatak said,

Will it have a Casual Mode like Tasty Planet 1?

  • James said,

Yes, there is a timed and untimed mode. The main game is actually a bit easier than in Tasty Planet 1 (because there aren’t so many “instant death” enemies), but there are a bunch of more difficult levels that will be unlocked after beating the main game.

  • bryan said,

will the order of time periods be random or in order?

  • James said,

Other than the first time period (modern day laboratory) the time periods are in order.

  • bryan said,

i kind of figured that it would be the first one.
by the way how big do you start out?

  • James said,

About 1cm in the first level. Each time period has you start small again (in the last time period you start off really tiny).

  • Kren said,

Wait Wait Wait Wait Wait. Wait. Hold it. Wait. “Other than the first time period (modern day laboratory) the time periods are in order.” Stop it right there. You mean we have to be created in a lab, THEN go TimeJumping, or does it pick up where the original game left off, but because the goo (SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER! DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN’T PLAYED THE ORIGINAL GAME!) blew up, I always kinda assumed he basically restarted all of time, so he must have been there since the beginning of the (new) timeline. If he survived the boom.
Basically, if the events of the sequel connect to the events of the original game, where? Or do you guys take the cheap/lazy path and say “Oh well let’s just say the storyline of the original Tasty Planet never happened. The storyline of the ‘sequel’ is the REAL storyline.”?

  • James said,

But the goo didn’t survive the explosion/big bang. The universe started all over again. In fact, the universe has probably restarted many times since the first game.

  • bryan said,

to make it simpler big boom boom to goo that ate space time continume. by the way how did the goo get sent back in time. and will you eat historical figures like the statue of liberty?

  • James said,

There are some well known landmarks like the Colosseum and the Great Pyramids. Anyhow, I’m going to get back to work now – and finish this game! (Yes, we even work on the long weekend!)

  • bryan said,

what is the estimated due date of the release?

  • James said,

We’re trying to release it this week.

  • bryan said,

take it nice and slow but this week sounds good.

  • Kren said,

I knew it was a stretch for the goo to survive. But you still haven’t answered my original question: where do the two plots connect? also, new question: what is the plot for the sequel? I know it has time travel, but you really haven’t given much detail.

  • bryan said,

oh,Kren the universe starts over again.that is where the plots connect.

  • James said,

Another day and you’ll be able to read the whole story for yourself. :)

  • bryan said,

    yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • bryan said,

    it will be released tomorrow?

  • James said,

If all goes to plan, yes.

  • bryan said,

so what more do you have to do?

  • Kren said,

I know the universe started over, but who’s to say the universe played out and life evolved in the same way? also, the sequel could take place before/after the events of the original, which is the main reason I asked.

  • James said,

That is true, the universe has probably restarted many many times over until a similar earth-like planet with human-like creatures came into existence.

  • bryan said,

when will it be released? i check the forums and blogs every five minutes for new posts about the games. really.
