Tasty Planet: Back for Seconds is Ready

Posted by James on September 10, 2010 under General | 36 Comments to Read

We’ve had many late nights, but we are finally finished the game. We sent out the pre-orders and you can now try out the demo/buy it. This is a what you would call a “soft launch”. We want to make sure everything is working well before officially releasing it, sending out press releases and doing all the other marketing stuff for the game. I’ll prepare some new screenshots, a new trailer, and other marketing material over the next couple days before sending it all out.

We’re really proud of the game. It is much more than we originally had planned to do with the Tasty Planet sequel. I hope everyone enjoys the game!

I loved the demo. The game and its graphics are amazing! I liked variety of dinosaurs and the bone maze!

  • Iramatak said,

All I can say is: $20 well spent.

  • Strawberry said,

I don’t have the full game so can you answer me these: the bonus levels that are new to the player are based on the main adventure? Also, in multiplayer mode, is it possible for one goo to be about 3 metres and the other 1cm?

  • bryan said,

BEST GAME EVER! but i`m having a little trouble with Rome 2. and i`m just a 9 year old kid and i installed it all by myself.

  • Iramatak said,

Treeforts is IMPOSSIBLE in Timed mode. No matter how fast I move or what strategy I try, I always need ~30 seconds more.

  • James said,

It’s cumbersome to answer questions here, so I moved Strawberry and Iramatak questions to the forum here: http://forums.dingogames.com/index.php?board=5.0

  • Kren said,

i downloaded the demo, and loved it. however, is there a way to use the product key or whatever to download the full version? i already bought the game, but after playing the demo, i just can’t wait 7-10 days for it to ship here! and downloading it would mean i don’t need the hard copy, so you don’t have to ship it. where do i download it and choose “already purchased”?

  • James said,

@Kren, We don’t use registration keys – instead, we use a separate full version download. When you purchase the game you will get a an email with a download link to the full version. There is no physical game that we ship, so you don’t have to wait for that. Most orders are fulfilled almost instantly.

  • Strawberry said,

Sorry for not posting this on the forum… but my forum account got deleted. Anyways: in other sites like BigFishGames, will it be a demo or a full version game with a 60 minutes trial?

  • James said,

@strawberry, Ahh, sorry about your forum account getting deleted – I have a weird spam problem where thousands of fake accounts get created, so I had to purge all accounts with zero posts.

I’ve been experimenting to see what kind of demo sells best. Big fish and others will likely have a normal full version demo. However, the game won’t be available on other sites for at least a month or two. Also, the high scores won’t work on those sites.

  • Strawberry said,

I created another forum account. Needs aproval though. By the way, how come we don’t eat dinosaurs in the future… since they were never extint?

  • Iramatak said,

Strawberry: I’d imagine that humans killed off/managed the dinosaurs between the present and future.

  • James said,

I approved your forum account (shouldnt have needed to do that – I need to change a setting)

As far as dinos in the future, Iramatak is correct – one of my level ideas was a dino zoo in the future… But I didn’t end up making that one.

  • Kren said,

I always liked demo’s like geneforge where you could play it for as long as it takes for you to get sold. nothing is worse than only trying one quater of all the features because you are stuck on level three, and when you think you know how to win, it says your demo is over. so make it, like, the first two or three zones available. like, edible egypt as the last. also, I know a game where in the demo, you can’t play story mode, but all the sidegames are unlocked. when you buy the full game, you must unlock those sidegames normally. I think it was Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis. Site B and 2 mission are the only available features, but when you buy it, they lock site b and open the main game. so you could use that and make the first 2 or 3 zones of two player mode open, also. just some ideas.

  • bryan said,

just because the game is out dose`t mean that you have to stop posting replies.

  • James said,

@Bryan We just got back from vacation. I am going through everything that we missed while we were away.

  • bryan said,

    Woopie!finally!

That’s a really cool game!I love the graphics and the sound.I have a few question for you: 1) When you make Tasty Planet 3? 2) I like the levels in the laboratory of Tasty Planet:Back for Seconds. If you make Tasty Planet 3 and make levels in laboratory, can you make more levels in laboratory? 3) I liked Tasty Planet and Tasty Planet:Back for Seconds. If you make Tasty Planet 3,can you put more level such as 60-80? 4) Tasty Planet was cool, and Tasty Planet:Back for Seconds is more cool then first. In Tasty Planet 3 can you make stuff like:absorbing fluids, make more things to eat, more comics, eat monuments, eat countries/continents. 5) If time travel is,can you make more periods of time such as 15-20?

  • James said,

    @Andrei117
I haven’t really started thinking about TP3 yet, so I don’t have many answers.

    1) I don’t know yet
    2) Probably many more modern levels, I don’t know about laboratory levels.
    3) We’ll try to do more levels, but I don’t know how many. It takes a long time to come up with unique levels.
    4) Maybe, probably, don’t know, hopefully, probably
    5) I don’t yet know what the theme of the game would be.

In the last level from Egypt(when eat the Pyramids) you can see the Nil.I going how closer I can to Nil,and then the helper arrow appears on the other side of the Nil.I can’t see what it is.You can tell me what it is on the other side of the Nil?[The helper arrow don't show me the Pyramids or boulders,it's show me something on the other side. And the helper arrow have a color ( I don't now what olor it is but I think it's brown-yellow)]

  • Raisin said,

I want to mean color not olor.

  • James said,

What is this “olor” that you speak of? ;)

I checked in my level editor, there are a bunch of boulders on that side of the nile… I’m not sure what they are doing there.

  • Raisin said,

    There isn’t any ‘olor’.It’s color,but I see ‘olor’.Sorry.I was wrong.

  • James said,

    @Raisin Yes, I understood. I was just kidding. :)

  • Jimmy said,

everybody! I CANNOT EAT OR SEE THE PYRAMIDS!But i can still finish the level. What’s wrong in that picture???

  • James said,

@Jimmy You can’t even SEE the pyramids on the level “Edible Egypt”? I haven’t heard of the problem before. Contact me at support@dingogames.com with more details, I’ll see if I can figure it out.

  • James said,

Tasty Planet is programmed in C++. Visual Studio on Windows and Xcode on Mac.
