Help Us Name Tasty Planet 2

Update: Thanks for the Tasty Planet 2 name suggestions everyone, the name we went with was Tasty Planet: Back for Seconds. The game is now available.

We aren’t too far off from releasing Tasty Planet 2 so we really need to come up with a final name. For a variety of reasons we want to name it “Tasty Planet: Some Subtitle” instead of “Tasty Planet 2″. So far we haven’t come up with anything amazing. The game has you traveling to different time periods and eating them, so we have been trying to come up with a play on words involving eating and time travel.

“Tasty Planet: Snack to the Future” (a play on the movie “Back to the Future”) was one of our favorite ideas but we found out that another game already used “Snack to the Future” (and put a little trademark symbol on it), so that one is out.

A few other names that I don’t mind (but don’t love either):

  • Tasty Planet: Snack Time
  • Tasty Planet: Snack in Time
  • Tasty Planet: A Morsel in Time

Actually one of my favorites ideas is “Tasty Planet: A Link to the Repast”… Pretty funny if you’re familiar with “The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past”. Unfortunately most people will not get it.

We could also go the Die Hard route – “Tasty Planet 2: Tastier Planet”.

Or how about Tasty Planet: Too Tasty?

What do you think of those names? We would love to hear your suggestions!

  • James said,

Awesome, thanks everyone for the suggestions! Keep them coming!

We also came up with “Tasty Planet: Lunch Time” during our brainstorming sessions (along with Snack/Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner Time) but we dismissed it for some reason. Now that I think about it a bit more, I kind of like it. Doing a Google search reveals that it is the most common/recognizable phrase out of Snack/Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner Time. The other cool thing about it is that lunch is the second meal of the day, so it implies the second Tasty Planet game. And it has the word “time” in it.

I also liked “Time to Eat” and “Beyond Time and Taste”.

If you have any more suggestions please post them!

mrsockfan what do you mean by hoping you left the exploding ants? love the name james.

  • mrspockfan said,

If you look under Recent Post and read the article on Path Editor, you see that James talks about explosive ants as he was developing the game.

  • Wendi said,

I was thinking something along the lines of “Tasty Planet: Guem-o-chrono” It literally means “taste of time” (“Guemo” meaning “taste” and “chrono” meaning “time”, both word are Greek terms). It translates as “Tasty Planet: Taste Of Time”.

I do like the title you’ve chosen though! Merci, and bienvenu to your brother!

  • bryan said,

wendi are you french? you sound french.

  • Iramatak said,

Wendi stated that those were Greek words.

  • bryan said,

    oops sorry wendi

  • bryan said,

iramatak look at the last sentence.she said merci and merci is a french word.

  • Iramatak said,

I never stated she wasn’t French, I just commented on the fact that she used Greek words. In fact, it looks like she meant that those were French words that came from Greek.

    Woo, tangent.

  • Wendi said,

I am learning Frnech. I am not French, but I am leaning to speak it. What I was refering to was the name of the game. Using Greek words.

Iramatak, on the whol “Frnch/Greek” thing, it was the words in Greek, but I ended saying merci (thank you) and bienvenu would be welcome.
